Tony Weare, Theo Cehun and Detlef Lamp attended the ‘Two Wheels to the Future’ forum in March attended by over 80 delegates and motorcycle industry figures.

We have the following documents from the forum online:

The following is based on a report on the proceedings of the forum, provided by Perry Stephens, Liaison Officer of Ulysses Melbourne Branch.

A motorcycle forum, hosted by VACC, was held on Saturday, 19 March 2006, at Leonda by the Yarra, to examine issues related to motorcycle licensing, legislation, policies and practices.

The forum was well attended with representatives from the motorcycle industry, motorcycle retailers, rider trainers, Victoria RoadSafe, VACC, RACV, VMAC, MRAA, MRA QLD, Motorcycle Council of NSW, Tasmanian Motorcycle Council, Ulysses Club, Brunswick HOGs, politicians and others.

The morning’s proceedings included addresses by:

David Purchase OAM, Executive Director, VACC; Prof. Marcus Wigan, Professor of Transport Systems, Napier University; Guy Stanford, President, Motorcycle Council of NSW; Neil O’Keefe, Chairman, VMAC; Dale Maggs, President, MRA (Vic); and Tony Ellis, Secretary, MRA (Vic).

In the lunch break, a large number of bikes arrived from Elizabeth Street for the presentation of the anti $50 TAC tax petition to Denis Napthine by Damien Codognotto.

After lunch, groups were formed to discuss a series of topics and come up with recommendations which will form the basis of a communiqué to be taken to the relevant government department by the VACC.

Following this, there was a panel discussion. The panel consisted of Marcus Wigan, Denis Napthine (Liberal Party), Damien Codognotto (Independent), Ray Newland (FCIA), Neil O’Keefe, Kris Macauley (AMIA) and John Buskes (VACC)
